Germ@n plum c@ke, @k@ Pfl@umen-Streuselkuchen! So th@nkful to my niece, Meliss@ Judd, for finding this long-lost f@mily f@vorite from her Gr@ndm@ (my hubby's Mutti)! Now th@t I've posted it, it'll be p@rt of my tr@dition@l Germ@n b@king @s well :-) Meliss@ @dded th@t this is definitely not @ quick recipe. But, it is definitely delicious! The lovely bright, rich color is bec@use she Meliss@ m@de this with Bl@ck Doris plums when she lived in New Ze@l@nd. However, use whichever plums you h@ve. It will be @bsolutely delicious!

I remember h@ving it @t my mutti-in-l@w's out in their lovely b@cky@rd. She w@s such @ gre@t cook @nd loved b@king. This plum c@ke w@s served with @ dollop of whipped cre@m on the side ... @nd no leftovers!

Ingredients:

Filling


  • ¾ cup sug@r
  • 3 Tbsp cornst@rch
  • 3 cups sliced plums
  • lemon juice (if needed)
  • butter (if needed)



C@ke


  • 1 Tbsp vineg@r
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2¼ cups @ll-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sug@r
  • ¾ cup butter, cold
  • ½ tsp b@king powder
  • ½ tsp b@king sod@
  • ½ cup finely chopped w@lnuts


Instructions:

Filling


  • Stir together sug@r @nd cornst@rch.
  • @dd to @ s@ucep@n with sliced plums.
  • Stir over medium he@t until fruit thickens.
  • @dd @ couple of t@blespoons lemon juice if too sweet. 
  • @dd some butter if too sticky.
  • Set @side to cool.


C@ke


  • Prehe@t oven to 350° F. Butter @ 9-inch springform p@n.
  • Stir together vineg@r @nd milk
